Looking back at how amazing the Lancer Varsity Boys Basketball team played this season, it is clear the Lancers team fought for every win this season. In the local league the Lancer’s Basketball team won 9 games out of 12, winning an overall 19 games out of 34 games. After all those games to prepare them for the playoff games, they began their journey to win Division 1 CIF and after a close match against Poly High School lost by one point. Although the Lancers lost they still continued to fight and made it to the CIF State Championship in Division IV.

Once the Lancer Boys Basketball team made it to the State Championship, Lancers won their first game against Elsinore High School with a score of 76-65, making it to round two against Pacifica High School and winning once again with a score of 66-46. Afterward, Boys Basketball moved on to the Regional Semifinal game against Fresno Christian High School but unfortunately lost by 4 points.

On this year’s Varsity Boys Basketball team there were a total of five seniors, four juniors, five sophomores, and six freshmen. The 2025 seniors’ names were Lorenzo Gonzalez as number 0, E’Casanova Evans as number 1, Dangelo Jordan as number 12, Kai Setareh as number 24, and Ronald Merrill as number 35. These 20 Lancers put all their heart into this sport, team, and time practicing hard every day after school.

When asked about his experience being a freshman on the Varsity Basketball team, Daniel Hernandez said, “I was confident on the court even as a freshman because I felt like I belonged, especially with my coach and teammates around me. It was a huge change but I adapted quickly to it and put my head into the game.” After this season, Hernandez hopes to make the best of his next three years on the Lancer’s Basketball team.
