At around 1:50 PM, Grant High School students were alerted to an unpleasant smell spreading across campus. A few minutes later, students and staff were told to evacuate and head to the southern end of campus after a reported gas leak.

Once evacuated, parents and staff were alerted to the incident via an email from the administration and students were allowed to unlock their Yondr pouches to contact their parents.

An email sent out to parents obtained by The Odyssey mentioned parents were allowed to be picked up by parents or guardians at Hatteras Gate by presenting a valid ID.

Students and staff remained gathered under evacuation at the blacktop in the P.E. area for the remainder of fourth period until the end of the school day.
Afterschool activities like Teen Court and the Boys’ Tennis match with SOCES were cancelled.

This is a developing story. Check back for more updates.
