The Grant High School Toy Drive has been inspired by the Career Club President, Lilit Shashikyan, who created the Any Kid Can Be Anything initiative to help children in need during the holiday season. The Career Club works closely with other organizations, such as the Medical Club, Los Angeles’s Children’s hospital, and foster care organizations who have all agreed to help out with the toy drive. Toys are donated to the children’s hospital, who requested that all donated items are kid friendly, including stuffed animals, magazines, and germ-free items.
The children’s hospital has set specific dates for when the toys could be dropped off, so that the hospital can deliver them in time for the holiday season. All items donated to the toy drive will be delivered to a separate location, so that all bacteria and germs could be properly disposed of prior to delivering them to children. Dr. Lipscomb, the faculty advisor of the Career Club, commended the Career Club for the impeccable work done with organizing, structuring, and community outreach for the Toy Drive.
